by Department of Transformation & Domestic Performance Agency
To kick off Department of Transformation's new series of experimental and participatory karaoke gatherings where collective voice, performance, and transformation take center stage, DOT teams up with artist Athena Kokoronis and Domestic Performance Agency (DPA) for Kitchen Act!, a parallel performance in which a menu of novel takeaway dishes emerges from DPA's repertory of choreographic meals and ongoing culinary research, created and served in real-time harmony with karaoke classics to create new flavors for new times.
Athena Kokoronis is an interdisciplinary artist working across art, food, dance, and design. She founded Domestic Performance Agency (DPA), a creative platform born from motherhood that focuses on process, hospitality, and experimentation. With collaborator Jasmine Hearn, she received the 2023 Rome Prize. Kokoronis has published two cookbooks and presented works at The Kitchen, Danspaceproject, Movement Research at Judson, and through DPA's signature 24-hour Diner performances.
